of denver, colorado being a big swing state in this election, as well. the focus of the debate was the economy. but big bird somehow got into the dialogue there. and, of course, as we mentioned, there were some polls that showed that romney came out ahead of the president on that first debate. bigad shaban joins us live from denver with some highlights from last night. people saw tuesday evening's debate the most watched since 1992. two more to go before election day. >>> investors have some new numbers from washington to consider this morning. ashley morrison of is here with the employment report that just came in. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, frank and michelle. stock futures are higher on much better-than-expected news on the jobs front just out this morning. the unemployment rate actually fell to 7.8% last month dropping below 8% for the first time of in almost four years that rate declined because more people found jobs. the labor department says 114,000 jobs were added in september. economists were predicting employers added only 111,000 jobs last month. and that the unemployment rate would edge up to 8.2% from 8.1%. so definitely some better-than- expected news out there on the jobs front. >>> asian markets up this morning after the bank of japan announced no change in the country's key interest rate. the kay up .5%, hong kong's hang seng added .5%. >>> on thursday the slightly better-than-expected weekl
